“My artistic style matches my personality and temperament. I utilize
expressive lines and follow my instincts while pursuing many different subjects.
I have an art for art’s sake temperament and am unconcerned with superficial
originality or titillation. I like to paint with bold colors. I accept color and
form as independent entities to be printed separately, resulting in the
interplay of abstractly applied splashes of color more or less overlapping with
subsequently outlined forms.
My work is the product of process balanced with risk-taking and intuition.
The process involves utilizing mixed media to draw, paint, and overdraw with
pencil, paint, and oil pastel. The process allows for reinvention of the image
until I find it to be satisfactory. When I began painting I called it
“controlled chaos”. I believe my work is part of the current evolution in art
bridging abstraction and expression to a post modern assimilation.
Although my works are ‘lurid’ I am not interested in the current trend in the
Arts to create some sort of superficial or artificial ‘buzz.’ My goal is to
sustain a life long effort and grow and evolve as a painter. It is not a sprint
to fifteen minutes of fame or notoriety (or sensation); rather a marathon with
the end result being a body of work that in undeniable in its persistence and
growth.”
